Founded through the visionary efforts of her husband, Prof. Tsige Gebre-Mariam and established with the unwavering support of her family, the Foundation embodies a commitment to honour and preserve the impactful contributions of Zewditu Getachew.Her Family members are committed to continue her humanitarian practices - humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, and thus founded this charity organization. May she rest in peace and her philanthropic legacy prevail for generations to come.

Dedicated to combat breast cancer
Zewditu Getachew Foundation (ZGF) is an Ethiopian organization dedicated to improving awareness of breast cancer, fostering early detection, and supporting access to quality-proven treatment to those affected by breast cancer.
Our
Objectives
Zewditu Getachew Foundation (ZGF) is a local organization, registered and accorded legal personality as of 05 September 2023 (Reg. No. 6974) in accordance with Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Authority for Civil Society Organizations, Proclamation No. 1113/2019).Our objectives are the following:

Awareness
Improve awareness about breast cancer among the society, especially women that early detection and treatment of breast cancer can save lives
Education
Contribute to raising public awareness of breast cancer prevention, pre-cancer diagnosis, and treatment after the disease occurs
Counseling
Together with stakeholders, provide support for breast cancer patients to receive adequate counselling
information
Make a concerted effort to inform society about developments in breast cancer treatments.
Access to Treatment
Together with stakeholders, improve access to quality-proven treatment for breast cancer patients.
Our
Current projects
ZGF is currently implementing three research projects aimed at advancing breast cancer awareness, early detection, and psychosocial care in Ethiopia.

A collaborative project between the University of Bern, Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (WPA Collaborating Centre), Switzerland, and the Zewditu Getachew Foundation, Ethiopia.The project aims to “Enhance Awareness, Psychosocial Support, and Mental Health Services for Breast Cancer Patients” while fostering sustainable academic collaboration, capacity building, and knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
